Happy Father’s Day to all you Dads & Granddads today!!!
I was lucky and very blessed to have my Dad for 52 years before we lost him suddenly 10 years ago to a heart condition at age eighty.
He was my first hero, teacher, coach, and so much more including me finally figuring out a lifelong best friend after years of not understanding this because I was “too smart” for my own good.
He taught me so much. I certainly don’t have time to get into them here and many of these things are a lifestyle for me today.
One thing in particular is to always look a person in eye and answer them truthfully. I learned this from him early in life trying to getaway with something.
Over the years I’ve found it very Valuable when someone is talking to me, maybe trying to BS me, and unable to look me in the eye.
He always insisted when, not if, I did something wrong to “take my medicine” by admitting it and moving on to make it right. People will respect you and trust you more, he’d say, when you admit your responsibility for your actions.
Be punctual. He’d say, “A person that does not respect your time is a person that cannot be fully trusted.”
Think how much better our world be if everyone did these three simple things of telling them truth, admit when your wrong & make the effort to correct it, and being on time.
Enjoy your day and the rest of your summer. Be sure and tell those closest to you how much you love them. We all need to hear and see it.
